Mulliner and the art of co-creation
With Batur Convertible #4, Bentley Mulliner elevates bespoke coachbuilding to its most refined and intimate form yet. Titled “The Power of Four,” this singular commission represents the most luxurious Mulliner Coachbuilt specification completed to date, and a compelling case study in what true client co-creation can achieve. Far from a one-off indulgence, this Batur joins an extraordinary personal collection belonging to Sonia Breslow, which already includes a Blower Continuation Series, a Speed Six Continuation Series, and the Bacalar that marked Bentley’s return to modern-era coachbuilding. For Breslow, the process is as important as the final car. Every detail is specified with intent, guided by a desire for harmony across colours, materials, and textures. Mulliner’s role is not merely to execute, but to translate personal vision into automotive form, introducing new techniques and ideas that push the boundaries of craftsmanship while remaining authentic to Bentley’s DNA. In Batur Convertible #4, this collaboration yields four world-first applications that collectively redefine what bespoke luxury can mean in the modern age.

A tri-tone vision of endless elegance
The exterior of Batur Convertible #4 is defined by Bentley’s first-ever tri-tone colour scheme created entirely from a client’s own commissioned palette. At its core is Breslow Blue, a bespoke upper-body colour that flows seamlessly into Bentley’s first colour-matched convertible roof canvas. When the roof is stowed, the Airbridge, finished in the same hue, maintains visual continuity, reinforcing the sense of sculptural purity from every angle. A 6 mm gloss-silver fine line traces the length of the car, subtly accentuating Batur’s dramatic “endless bonnet” design. Below, Midnight Breslow Blue anchors the lower body, echoed in a delicate bonnet pinstripe. Accent colours extend to the wheels and wing mirrors, while polished titanium exhaust finishers and bright silver grilles add restrained brilliance. The result is a composition that feels both contemporary and timeless, luxury expressed through proportion, precision, and confidence rather than excess.

Personal detail as a design language
Inside, Batur Convertible #4 reveals a cabin shaped by warmth, tactility, and deeply personal storytelling. Autumnal tones, tans and caramel hues, form the foundation, contrasted by light blue accents that draw the bespoke Breslow Blue from the exterior directly into the interior environment. Contrast stitching flows from the tonneau through the seats, headrests, and instrument panel, creating a continuous visual rhythm. Among the most distinctive features is Bentley’s first client-designed animated welcome lamp. Using 415,800 microscopic mirrors, the system projects Sonia Breslow’s handwritten name onto the ground as the door opens, light transformed into identity. Subtle references abound: the outline of Mount Batur is woven into the deep-pile floor mats, while the Bentley Rotating Display features bespoke gauge faces coordinated with a satin blue clock. The dashboard fascia adopts a bright aluminium engine spin finish inspired by early Bentleys, bridging heritage with modernity. Completing the interior’s artistry is Bentley’s first application of three-dimensional printed platinum, used for the steering wheel’s top dead centre marker and the iconic organ stops. These precious-metal elements transform everyday touchpoints into lasting symbols of exclusivity.

W12 power and a masterclass in collaboration
Despite its unparalleled level of bespoke craftsmanship, Batur Convertible #4 remains every inch a Bentley grand tourer. Beneath the sculpted bonnet lies the most powerful iteration of the marque’s legendary W12 engine: a hand-assembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged unit producing 740 bhp. It ensures performance and refinement worthy of Mulliner’s flagship coachbuilt series, pairing effortless speed with long-distance composure. Ultimately, Batur Convertible #4 stands as a masterclass in collaboration, where visionary client input and Mulliner’s craftsmanship converge into a single, coherent expression. It is powerful without aggression, luxurious without ornamentation, and deeply personal without compromise. As it joins its owner’s other Mulliner siblings, it reinforces Bentley’s belief that the highest form of modern luxury is not exclusivity alone, but authorship.
